The Fibro Circle

I Tried 30 Bras for My Fibromyalgia. The Only One I Can Wear All Day Was Made by Women Who Have It Too.

Screenshot of a Facebook group post: Some of us got so fed up with bras we made our own. 4 months of testing and we finally all made it to bedtime.

Most days, I'd make it to about 1 PM before I had to reach under my shirt and unhook my bra.

I've had fibromyalgia for 16 years. You learn to live with a lot. But that tight squeeze around my ribs, hour after hour, was the one thing I couldn't get used to.

I tried everything. Comfort bras. Wireless. Sports bras two sizes up. Three different fitters. Some were better for an hour. None of them lasted the day.

Then a woman in my fibro group shared a post I still think about. Eleven women with fibro had gotten so fed up with bras that they stopped waiting for someone to fix them and made something themselves.

It wasn't another 'comfort bra.' It was a tank, made by women who know exactly what a full day feels like in a body like ours.

I ordered one that night, half expecting to be let down again. Four months later, I haven't touched a bra since. Here are the 8 reasons why.

Note: If you have fibromyalgia and your bra hurts by the afternoon, this is worth reading.

1. Nothing Squeezes My Ribs Anymore

You know the feeling. By early afternoon, your ribs feel bruised from the inside, and every breath reminds you something is wrapped too tight.

The first week in this tank, I kept waiting for it. It never came. Turns out the 11 women had figured out what I never did: the band was squeezing tender skin all day. So they left it out.

I get home and don't feel like ripping it off.

The tank held up with labels pointing to the molded cups, the soft piece underneath with no band, and the wide doubled straps

2. I Don't Have to Choose Between Comfort and Support

Soft bras let me sag, and supportive ones hurt by lunch. Other bra tanks I tried either had flat little pads that shifted around or nothing underneath, so I'd slip right out the bottom.

This one has two real molded cups sewn right in, and underneath the cups there's a wide, soft, seamless piece that holds you in from the bottom so you don't slip out. But it isn't a band that wraps around your ribs, so it never digs in under your chest or rolls up.

It connects up into the wide straps to lift and spread the weight into the rest of the tank. My chest gets real support, and my ribs and shoulders are finally relieved of pain.

I look put together under a blouse, and I'm not paying for it later.

3. My Shoulders Finally Get a Break

On flare days, even my shoulders ache, and thin straps used to slip and dig in until I had red grooves by dinner.

These straps are wide and soft. They stay where I put them, and I don't think about them once.

4. Bad Mornings Got a Little Easier

Some mornings my arms are so stiff I can't reach behind my back. Hooking a bra used to leave me close to tears.

There's nothing to hook. I slip it on like a regular tank and get on with my day.

5. I Stopped Counting the Hours

I used to plan my whole day around when I could get home and take my bra off. Errands, lunch with friends, all of it had a clock on it.

Now I put this on in the morning and honestly forget about it until bedtime.

6. It Fits a Real Body

I'm a DD. The gentle bras never held me, and the ones that held me left marks.

This comes in A to G cups and S to 4XL. I typed in my bra size, it told me which one to order, and it fit the first time.

7. It Was Made by Women Who Know

This is what won me over. No big company guessed at what fibro feels like. Eleven women who live with it wore every version for four months, flare days included, until all of them could make it to bedtime.

It won't cure fibro. But it took away one pain I'd felt every single day for years.

If you've spent years blaming your body, I did too. Bras were never made for a body with fibro. These women finally made something that was.

8. 90 Days to Try It (No Risk If It's Not for You)

Usually I don't trust things I see on Facebook. I've been burned too many times by bras that promised comfort and hurt after an hour. But this had a 90-day money-back guarantee, so I figured I could wear it through a good week and a rough flare week before deciding. Four months later, I never had to send it back.

Beware of Cheap Fakes on Amazon and Facebook Resellers

Before I found Avouria's official page, I ordered two copies, one on Amazon and one from a Facebook reseller that stole their videos. Both had a tight band hidden inside, the fabric stretched out in an hour, and the foam pads fell out in the wash.

The real tank, with the sewn-in molded cups, the soft seamless piece underneath, and the free mesh wash bag, is NEVER sold on Amazon or through Facebook resellers. You can only get it on their official website here.

Avouria is a game changer

Avouria is a game changer. I have multiple health issues that make every day life painful: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and Sjogren's. Back closure bras are impossible. I can put on an Avouria tank. It holds up the girls (and the girls aren't small) and gives me a smooth silhouette. Super comfortable and no underwire or band to press into my skin. I have "customer for life" emotions for Avouria.

I have been dealing with Fibromyalgia...

I have been dealing with Fibromyalgia for almost 10 years. Lounge and sports bras are confining and tight, and buckle or zip bras do nothing but dig into my skin and make me feel worse. Finally found a bra that doesn't hurt by the end of the day. No wire digging in, no marks left behind. I actually forget I have it on some days!! Thank you Avouria 💜

Questions I Had Before Ordering

I'm a bigger cup size. Will it hold me?

I'm a 42DD and it does. It comes in A to G cups and S to 4XL. If you're between sizes I recommend going up one.

Is it hard to get on during a flare?

No. There are no hooks or clasps. It pulls on like any soft tank top or you can step into it and pull it up.

Without a band, what keeps me from falling out?

A wide, soft, seamless piece under the cups holds you in from underneath so you don't slip out the bottom. But it doesn't wrap around your ribs, so there's nothing squeezing you, and it connects up into the wide straps to lift and spread the weight into the rest of the tank.

Does it actually lift, or just cover?

It lifts. Each side has its own molded cup, so you keep your shape under a shirt.

Will the straps dig in?

No. They're wide, soft and doubled, so they lie flat and stay put.

I can't stand anything snug. How tight is it?

It fits close, like a normal tank. If you're sensitive, size up for a looser feel.

Won't a whole tank be too hot?

The fabric is light and breathable, and it replaces your bra, so you're wearing one layer, not two.

Does it ride up?

No. It reaches your hips and stays down when tucked in.

Do I wear it as a top?

Either way. Wear it under anything like a bra, or on its own.

How is this different from tanks with built-in pads?

Those pads fold and slide in the wash. These cups are molded and sewn in, so they stay put, and there's no band around your back.

How do I wash it?

Just throw it in the free wash bag that comes with your order, machine wash cold on gentle, and hang or lay it flat to dry. Skip the dryer so the cups keep their shape.

What if it doesn't work for me?

You get 90 days from delivery. Even after you wear and wash it, if the fit isn't right or it doesn't relieve your afternoon bra pain, Avouria will exchange it, give store credit, or refund you completely under the 90-Day Money-Back Guarantee.
